The Tree Truck – A Grapple Defined

In the forestry industry, there are several types of work that the heavy-duty nature of grapple truck equipment becomes most useful for. These uses range from a simple job to jobs that are much more complicated. In the forestry and logging operations, all uses for the grapple truck or tree truck share one common attribute: it benefits most a tool for grabbing and clamping onto logs or timber. The three basic uses that a grapple truck for sale can perform in the field for which it was designed are discharging or unloading, hauling and stacking logs for transportation.
The development of logging techniques and its equipment is best portrayed in cut-to-length logging. This method can be done with the aid of a harvester, a common sidekick to the grapple truck or tree truck. This piece of equipment is a multipurpose machine that does the falling, cuts the limbs, and bucking of the cut down tree. The grapple or tree truck then transports the processed wood to the landing area where it is loaded onto a flat-bed tree truck and delivered for further milling. Cut-to-length logging is a very efficient method but like anything, has its negatives as well. The cost for the harvester and the forwarder adds additional cost to the entire logging operation, which may not be a desired consequence.
Transportation of partially processed logs with a grapple truck from the landing site to subsequent milling stations is a task for the tree truck. Although there have been various methods of transporting harvested logs in the past, such as the use of rail carts and overhead skidders, the tree truck has become the established means of transporting logs. The tree truck is more cost-effective to use and able to adapt to various terrains, especially off-road conditions.
When used in the processing of wood, a grapple truck's usage goes beyond its main function and is not limited only to the uses discussed above. Apart from the obvious and primary uses, one of these uses that goes unnoticed that adds even more efficiency in today's industry, is a type of grapple that includes a built-in saw. This provides versatility and is made up of a radically distinctive combination that can make the logging business be guaranteed a good profit. It is capable of grabbing, removing limbs from trees, trimming and slashing timber. This design would undoubtedly be quite helpful in a lumberyard.
Another one of the most underscored benefits of the log grapple is shovel logging. When loggers attempt to maneuver and move the timber in place, they utilize the shovel logging mechanism of the grapple truck to increase cost-effectiveness and productivity. Grapple truck users realized some time ago that this system could be operated at a low cost, therefore reducing manpower needed during the moving of felled trees to a transporting area and, as an added benefit, promoting safety at the same time
