The ITIL, or the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, is a set
of standards that set out a framework for IT operations and practices.
The ITIL Certification is an important certification in the IT field,
and many people are now using this as a stepping stone to build their
careers. As businesses become more and more reliant on IT, this
certification has gained importance and is now seen as a requirement for
IT professionals.
There are different levels of ITIL Certification that you have to go through. The first level is the ITIL Foundation Certification, which is the basic or beginner level. What it involves is the basic information that relates to IT service delivery and service support. The Foundation Certification exam is a multiple choice exam; which you need to pass in order to qualify for the next levels in this process. It covers 13 modules which are then divided into Service Delivery and Service support. These exams are arranged by the EXIN and the ISEB and you can easily find out their details online.
Once you have the Foundation Certification, you can go for the next level that is the Practitioner Certification. This focuses more on application and implementation of IT services and how much in depth knowledge you have; about the field. Service Management is an important part of the Practitioner level, and so is customer and IT organization communication. Some other key areas are IT support and control. This level of certification is a good option for people working as team leaders, who then want to expand their areas of knowledge.
The next and the final level in the ITIL Certification is the ITIL Service Manager Certification. This is for IT professionals, who have good knowledge about their field along with a good amount of experience. This is a certification which can be quite difficult, which is why an extensive training and learning is required before you can take this test. However, it is important to understand that only studying and training will not get you that far because a good experience can also make a lot of difference. Around 60% of this certification is based on practical implementation and the rest includes theory.
As you pass each stage, you go higher up in the ITIL Certification levels. Although it may seem time consuming, the rewards are worth the effort you put into it
