In
the smartphone market there are three major players with Android
currently leading the race with 38% of U.S. smartphone sales while Apple
had 27% and Blackberry reported 21% of the sales during the period of
March – May of 2011. According to a survey from Nielsen, iPhone sales
increased over 10% during the same period while Android remained flat,
likely due to Verizon now offering the iPhone where previously AT&T
had a monopoly on the Apple devices.
While Nielsen concluded that this indicates that iPhone sales are trending to lead the marketplace other industry analysts say that that cannot be concluded because of the increase in the overall numbers of smartphone devices sold by Android and the fact that Google maintained their position at the top even though Apple’s share in the market had increased. The biggest impact in the race for smartphone market domination seems to be from iPhone recruiting new users from Blackberry, not Android.
The heat is being turned up in this mobile technology race with Google pushing its Google Voice platform while Apple reportedly is seeking to start a wireless communications company of its own. In addition, the recent acquisition of Skype by Microsoft further indicates tremendous interest in the VOIP or data transfer technology that voice communications are moving toward.
According to a spokesman from Smart Mouth Mobile, an innovative social networking communications company, the competition and the interest in mobile VOIP is great news saying, "It’s all good for us, we have developed the only cross platform mobile VOIP applications that offer unlimited international calling on any device and will soon offer the service from any landline for only $19.95 per year." He further stated that although the company focused first on the smartphone market, current updates nearing release will allow virtually any device that can dial a phone number to use their service, stating, "It is our goal to provide unlimited communication worldwide at a price affordable to anyone".
It appears that the upstart Smart Mouth Mobile is indeed in an enviable position not only in the U.S. but worldwide as well as Apple is moving into China on a large scale with a partnership with China Mobile, the largest wireless provider in China plus their plans to include their services on Symbian powered devices and landlines as well. After being informed of the features and updates slated for release, this writer has to conclude that Smart Mouth Mobile is positioned to dominate the communications and social networking market in a way that no company ever has, literally putting the world in the palm of your hand.
